Here in Richmond for $55 you get 30Mbps down, 5Mbps up. i guess its the same for you too.

Yeah. It's alot of FCC.

You should see the B.S. that the wireline guys in my company have to put up with.

$44.95 is interesting. I guess Verizon is selling all of this at a loss. It'll be interesting to see how long they keep this up.

OMG I hate you alll!

Where I curently live the ONLY option is cable for highspeed (RR). They can give me the crappiest service and I am still stuck with them. $40 a month for a stinking advertised 8 down and something k up (have not ran my speed test reciently) that never realizes full speed (max speed test was like half that speed)....

Whats bad on top of that is WHEN, and the epmhasis is on the when, DSL becomes avialable at my home its the same price for a slower advertised DSL speed!

While i am thankful to even have highspeed to hear about leaps and bounds speed increases in other areas for about the price I am paying now makes me sick.

Yeah I wish! Unfortunately stuck here for MANY long years to come.

The problem in my neighborhood is everything is underground so they can't just string some fibre along some poles and be done with it.

The next problem is despite the restrictions in the neighborhood from the "how does your house look nazi's!" it really is one of the best neighborhoods around. Little to no crime, big lots of land for homes (when you look out your kitchen window you see your backyard not a 3 inch strip of land and then the sliding glass door of your neighbors house and into his living room), no real through traffic (get about 2-5 cars on a busy saturday!), close to all schools and facilites, well developed and has been in place since the 70's. Not too many neighborhoods you can say that about...

BUT DARNNIT I WANT MORE SPEED!!!!! (why do I feel like more of a computer geek than I am just typing this?)

I hate you!

My wife has been considering taking a job down in Virginia. I might have to twist her arm.

The deed is done! I just submitted the order for the 15mbit/2mbit service, should be fast enough to keep me happy. Sept 12 is the projected installation date.

John--I was one of the first to have FIOS in my neighborhood---Fantastic!--I used to have cable via Cable Vision---this wipes it away. You should only pay 54.95 for the 30/5 service------You can ask for it and they shouuld give it to you. I only see a major difference when uploading (I upload lots of big video files). I am waiting for them to add FIOS TV in my neighborhood so I can finally be free of them. By the way, when they install don't let them put their software on your computer---It isn't necessary.

I know---when the guys came to install my FiOS, I practically had to fight with them not to put that crap on my computer. YOu know, they were trained by the book so they kept insisting that I needed the software to go online. Finally I won and they actually seemed shocked when FIOs worked error free without loading the crap!

Why can't we have Verizon in my area. I am stuck with SBC. I know they are rolling out Fiber but I believe Verizon started their Fiber project before SBC. Don't even think they have started rolling out Fiber anywhere is Wisconsin.
