ipconfig ulitily not functioning
I am trying to work on a laptop that cannot access the internet and I am trying to use ipconfig.
The laptop has winxp home and the message I get everytime I try it is

Windows IP Configuration.

Is there a reason for this?

Thanks

wired. the laptop could connect earlier in the day after he installed pc-cillin and then he started getting blue screens and went into safe mode and just deleted the files. The blue screens went away and he got a new wireless optical mouse and now he can't access the internet. It's says connected but no internet access.

Any ideas? Thanks

All this new information is helpful.

When he "went into safe mode and just deleted the files", did he uninstall the program or just manually try and delete files.

For starters, are you getting valid IP address information assigned. (Start / run / CMD, then run IPCONFIG /all)

Can you ping 4.2.2.1
Can you ping www.yahoo.com

OK he just manually deleted the files, he didn't go through add/remove programs.

As for the ipconfig command, that is the problem, when I try to do a ipconfig /all this is what I get:

c:\windows\system32> ipconfig /all

Windows IP Configuration

Also I cannot ping 4.2.2.1 or yahoo.com but the loopback ping works.

Thanks
