Problems with DNS and Proxy
I'm from Johannesburg South Africa. Since 9 May this year, I've been having issues logging on and maintaining my login at forums based in the USA. This is in particular at www.pro-networks.org but also www.planetamd64.com and www.neowin.net where I am a member. I thought this may be a phpbb issue at PROnetworks but PlanetAMD is an IP.Board, as is www.neowin.net and I'm experiencing the same issues on them all.

What happens is that my last visit is continuously adjusting to current time and as a result I lose all New Posts. I also get numerous "Invalid Session" messages and am logged out whenever I go to a private staff or management forum and then need to log in again before I can enter. As a staff member at PROnetworks, it's critical that I carry out admin functions there and with this problem I'm not able to login to the phpbb Admin panels to do that, as I get logged out constantly and end up with invalid sessions and then need to re-log on and get into a loop never actually being able to do anything.

Making a new post is very difficult there too as I get "Invalid Sessions" and need to re-submit the post many times before it accepts and goes through.

Clearly this is not a phpbb issue as the other two sites where this is occuring are not phpbb forums.

Locally here in South Africa I have no such problems at all even on phpbb based forums.

Once before about 18 months ago I had similar issues and solved them by using dsl-cache.saix.net on port 8080 as a proxy as well as specific DNS and alternate DNS Servers on my network card. This worked great until the 9th and then this problem started.

I've also tried to use some of the free proxy sites based in the US without any success. At the moment I am using OpenDNS servers (inputed to the wireless NIC for now)and am trying a different proxy: dsl-cache.saix.net port 3128

I have to use a dynamic IP address as the cost of obtaining a static one is ridiculously high over here.

Does anyone have any idea what the cause of this is and how to remedy it? All input will be greatly appreciated

Thanks for the response invalidusername. I've tried the local support boards but our local online community is very small and while I did come across someone else with the same issue, I have no resolution to the problem yet.

I'm becoming fairly sure that it's either a cookie issue and the way that IP.Boards and phpbb boards handle/generate them as well as how the proxy caches that we have no option but to use locally (we have one fixed line semi-government bandwidth provider who provides all local fixed line ISP's with bandwidth/connectivity), process them or update the data that we transmit and receive. Sounds like gibberish I know and I have insufficient knowledge of that field to be clearer, but when last I had this issue it was resolved with using a specific combination of cache proxy and DNS server.
