How can my friend hook up a router to his USB Sprint Data adapter
Hello,

My friend has a plan through Sprint for their unlimited data plan for $59.99/month. To get this signal he bought the Sierra 595U which connects to a computer or laptop via USB. Here is the link to the product: http://www.evdoinfo.com/content/view/809/64/

What I am trying to figure out is how he can use this current setup and add a router so that he can share his connection among his home computers. Is there a way/router to do this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Nope, you need an Ethernet connection to use a router. The only solution for this device is probably ICS - Internet Connection Sharing.

Thanks for the reply, JohnWill. I will look into that article. Is there a way to plug the USB adapter into one computer, then from that same computer run an ethernet cable out of the NIC to a router, and share it that way?

You can run ICS and connect a router to it, but the computer with the USB adapter will have to always be on for the shared connection to work.

They do make routers specifically for data cards now. Go to 3G.com

stanalic is right.

They do make routers with USB ports to utilize 3G USB connection cards. www.3gstore.com has quite a few selections. The Cradlepoint and Kyocera routers for one have the ability to utilize USB connection cards.
