Can't see other computers on private network
I have a network connection that has 4 Win XP computers linked to it. All 4 computers are able to see each other in the network. I recently bought a new HP dv6315 laptop with windows vista and i've also connected it to my network and am able to get online. However, I can't seem to be able to see my other computers on the same network and vice versa with the laptop. The other computers seem to be fine still but I'm wondering if there is a compatibility issue with the different OS.

Did you setup the same workgroup on the new computer as the workgroup of others.
Also with Vista the process is a little diffrent, you need to create a public foder and put shared stuff under that:

Vista compatibility with earlier versions of Windows.

Start, Run, regedit

Navigate to the following folder:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa

In the right, double-click "LmCompatibilityLevel"

Change the value to 1 (probably currently 3)

Restart your computer
