Solved: Wireless lan card doesnt work properly
Hi. I just bought a wireless g pci card for my computer so i can play lan. but it is so slow. on one of my games the latency is about 50. over lan its about 5 or 6. it only goes about 20 kb/sec. i have a usb one for another one of my computers and it works fine. does anyone know why it could be going so slow

Knowing absolutely nothing about your environment, I won't even attempt to hazard a guess.

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

What country are you located in.
Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
Make and exact model of the broadband modem.
Make and exact model of the router (if a separate unit).
Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Make and model of your computer.
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP1-SP2, Vista, etc.
The Internet Browser in use, IE, Firefox, Opera, etc.

Also, please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.

I dont think it will have anything to do with the isp because my other computer goes to about 256KB/sec on the internet. the wireless card is an ASUS WL-138G V2 and the router/modem is Dynalink Rta770w which is now discontinued and i use WEP encryption. and the OS is XP home SP2. and its not just the internet that goes slow anything i try to transfer from my other computer to the one that is having the problem only goes about 20KB/sec

It could the the NIC, or the drivers. First step would be to install the latest drivers for the NIC's on each end of the connection.

No drivers are required for anything other than USB from a router.
