I'm sorry to bump this post again, but I am definitely in need of help with this. I've been working on it on and off for months.

At the sites having problems applying GPOs take out ALL DNS resolution with the exception of the Domain server that is providing DNS resolution for the company. Even having a secondary DNS in there can sometimes cause problems.

What I recommend is take a machine that is havbing the problem currently. take out all DNS information except the domains DNS server and then reboot. The Domains DNS server should be then set to forward out DNS records it can't resolve to the ISP in the DNS setup on the server in the forwarding section.


Essentially you want it to be PC on domain to DNS server on domain to Internet

Then test out the machine and see if it now shows up on the network and is getting a group policy as well.

Of course you may want to set all it hardcoded first but then potentially make the change in your DHCP provider afterwards for ease of use.

I suggest Set IP, Subnet, Gateway and Single internal DNS. Reboot the machine, log in and do CMD gpupdate /force followed by a gpresult and potentially have someone check and see if it can be browsed.

StumpedTechy - The first thing I tried was removing the secondary dns server from my tcp/ip settings, and I ran into some issues. I was no longer able to browse to any websites unless they were hosted on that server (it is also used as a web server). Does that seem like it might have anything to do with this current issue, or does that sound like an entirely different issue?

If it's a different issue, I'd like to set it aside until I get the initial one fixed.
