Post Terminal Server Outlook "closing" box hangs
We are a small company with about 20 users connecting to a terminal server.

here is the problem:
current user profiles will run the first time log on installers ex "setting up settings for IE 6" or the office user configuration wizard. these are long time users who have already done this a wile ago.

a user will log on to the terminal server, in this case the system admin, they will start outlook 2000, do what they need to do, then upon closing, the dialog box: "please wait wile outlook closes" hangs

However; when a new user profile is made, the installers do not run and the outlook closing box goes away in about 3 seconds. all the applications are running fine. this has been going on since the original install of the server

it would be best if we didn't shut it down, users log into it 24 hours a day (we provide a 24 service) I do however have an idea how to get around this problem, but it doesn't fix the problem. I would like to know what is going on with it to maybe implement a better solution

Thanks

Does the Event Viewer provide any errors when this happens? Does this happen for all users that have existing profiles? Maybe its multiple users attempting to do the same thing in there own respective TS sessions and there is a bottle neck to close the outlook connection.

Septerra thanks for the quick reply

here are some event logs

Date 09/05/2008 Source MsiInstaller

Type Warning Event ID 1001

Detection of product '{00010409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7}', feature 'ProductNonBootFiles', component '{2EED6860-AA7D-11D2-9D22-00A0C90AB50F}' failed. The resource 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common\LanguageResources\S howDates' does not exist.

This is a variation on the above log, Date, Source, Type, and ID are the same

These seem to happen about 20 times a day. I hope this gives better insight to the problem, but its event viewer

Yes this is an issue with all of the existing profiles

"Maybe its multiple users attempting to do the same thing in there own respective TS sessions and there is a bottle neck to close the outlook connection." I am doubtful because it happens all the time, regardless of the number of users closing outlook, one or a all logging off, it hangs either way.
