VOIP to DeskTop to Router Connection
I ahve a Dell Dimension 8400 desktop and I recently installed VOIP (Vonage) and I have my DSL Broadband (AT & T) connected to these two hardware items. I have a Laptop (Dell) and a Netgear Router that I need to get to receive Internet signal. I do not know how to connect (i.e. What cable goes to what port on which piece of equipment?)

Can you help me ?

I think we first need to know what equipment you have. Brand and model of modem? Brand and model of VOIP router? Model of Netgear router?

VONAGE CONNECTION MODEL VDV21-VD next to the power connection it has one port that has a BLUE wire going to the SPEEDSTREAM Modem and next to that a YELLOW ETHERNET wire going to the desktop computer. SPEEDSTREAM IS MODEL 5100 Ethernet ADSL Modem . The NETGEAR IS MODEL WGR 614 v8 in back it has 1 YELLOW ETHERNET port and four other ports.

Hope this helps to help me.

Thanks

Connect the router to the modem, then connect the Vonage box to a port on the router. That's how I have my VoIP box connected. That way the internal NAT layer in the VoIP box is a non-issue as far as screwing up your network.
