hello,
could u please help me with this promblem
right i am using a belkin wireless G usb adaptor on my pc upstairs running windows xp
it has
pentium 3 processor (i no very old but works kinda fasst still lol)
448mhz
192mb ram
120 gig hard drive
running it through a dlink router the latest one
the pc downstairs is all working correctly donstairs which is connected through the router which is on xp i also have a laptop which is on vista which is working fine all round the house on the net its just the pc that not work

these what i have tried to do:

1.winsockxpfix
2.formatted pc
3.sp2conectivityfix
4.ipconfig/flushdns ipconfig/renew(it will not renew)
5. went in system checked my dhcp is on and it is

this has been a promblem for about 2 days i tried everything and out of ideas i did come on yesterday working for all of 10 minutes i didnt do nothing to it it just came on and it worked lol werid i no that was b4 i formatted i got told that some programs or a virus culd kick me off so i formatted my pc to no avail its registring my adaptor and it says devie is working fine if u could please help me with this promblem would be appricated thanks

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

What country are you located in.
Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
What is the expected Upstream/Downstream speed for your ISP Connection?
Make and exact model of the broadband modem.
Make and exact model of the router (if a separate unit).
Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Make and model of your computer.
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP1-SP2, Vista, etc.
The Internet Browser in use, IE, Firefox, Opera, etc.




Please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.

If you're using a wireless connection, have you tried a direct connection with a cable to see if that changes the symptoms?

If there are other computers on the same network, are they experiencing the same issue, or do they function normally?




On any affected computer, I'd also like to see this:

i also found this on the internet could this be the problem if so how ould i solve it bearing in mind before i formatted my pc i had it came on for like 10 mins with no problem

So, this computer connects to the router using a cable connection, but the wireless can't connect, right? Did you disable encryption AND all other security on the router like MAC filtering and SSID hiding?

Did you use the correct XP SP2 WINSOCK fix (see following)?

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

the wireless router must be linked to your isp address if the wireless ip is set different then the ip on computer they will not work I had the same problem til I linked them together your better off calling tech support to help with the link belive me it's a hand full they should beable to fix it throu remote .

hi spritzer2001uk,

just to clarify...You only have one wireless computer right?

You can try as well removing the preferred network on the wireless configuration...ex. wzc or the wlan utility of the wireless adapter your using.

Play around with the channel, after changing the wireless channel on your router, do a power cycle. Turn off the computer first, router next and lastly the modem after a minute, turn on the modem first, router next and lastly the computer. Check if you can connect to the network. If still the same....

update the driver of the wireless adapter, if still the same well update the firmware of the router (it's recommended to contact router manafacturer befoe doing firmware upgrade, because after that you will need to reconfigure the entire settings of the router).

If all else fail, isolate the problem...try the wireless pc to other wireless network, if works problem with the router if not possible problem with the wireless pc.

Or, can try connecting other wireless pc on your wireless network.

i already have a laptop that works fine all around the house on wireless tryed the comand thing terry no joy have tryed disabling all security and still no joy i will try tech support see if that works not good thanks for ur help anyway guys
