Angry Should be downloading at 1.5 meg, but always only getting 150kbps???
Hello!
I am always on the computer and my internet always downloads at 80-150kbps. I am on Bigponds 1500/256kbps Liberty Plan.
No my internet has not been shaped, its not because of busy times or anything like that.
I called up Telstra tech support, and they were less than helpful, telling me to go get (insert word here), yes thats right, they actually said that.
I'm just about out of ideas :s playing games on 150kbps isnt fun!

You do realize that there are 8 bits in a byte, right? If you're getting 150kbyte/sec downloads, that's pretty much what you can expect on a 1500kbit link. Can you be a bit more clear about what you're actually seeing?

Well I know others with the plan and they are getting like 1.5meg, and im not really seeing anything apart from it always being 80-150kbps every time i download (like no errors if thats what you were getting at).

If you're getting 150kb downloads, that's 150kbytes/sec, and you're getting pretty close to full bandwidth. I have a 15mbit connection, and I get 1.6-1.8mbyte downloads from sites that can support the full bandwidth. That's all there is.

150kbytes/sec = 1200kbits/sec, or 80% the maximum quoted rate for your connection.

$80/mo! I pay less for 15/15 service! I still don't get quite my 15 up, but close enough for me.
