Solved: Printer queue hangs...
I have a HP 3600N color laser printer installed on a small office network. We use a mixture of Macs and PCs (running XP). The Macs are able to print to this printer at all times without issue. The PCs on the other hand have become problematic. Quite often a print job will be sent and simply sit in the queue even though no other print jobs have been sent by other users.

The only way to release the print job is to restart the PC. This has created a problem, not to mention much frustration and downtime.

Can someone please help? Thanks in advance.

How are you printing to this laser printer? Is it to a print server and then to the printer? Is it via an IP? Have you checked all the network settings on the JetDirect?

Thanks for replying. All computers on the network are wireless and access the Laserjet via the wireless router/modem which is Verizon DSL.. When I originally loaded the software onto each computer, the wizard asked for the IP address of the printer (which I obtained via the printer utility). Once installed, each computer printed the test page just fine and theMacs have continued to print without issue. It's only the PCs that every now and then experience this "lock-up" problem. The only remedy I have found is to re-start the PC. Can you possibly expand on the question you asked about checking the network settings on the printer?

Thanks very much for your time.

Connect to the printers jetdirect using the http://IPofprinter or using the LCD display. I am assuming the macs are communicating with Appletalk or are they connected using TCP/IP it could be TCP/IP is hanging up but Appletalk is working if you have incorrect Ip information or something of the sort?
