Laptop not seeing desktop and wireless network.
Hello all, I have an HP (Vista) laptop, that's not seeing the desktop (XP pro) on the wireless connection. I keep paitent files on both but transfer between the two of them.

The Folder/Files are shared and the Workgroup on both are the same. The router is a Airlink 101.

Any suggestions are help is encouraged and appreciated.

T

P.S.

I'm not sure if this makes a difference or not but both computer connect to the net just fine.

Meaning can't ping by IP address? Don't see it in the network map? Something else?

Hello TerryNet can ping both computers with no problem. Normally on the laptop (Vista) when I click on the "Network" icon on the desktop, the other computer will showup but it's not showing up anymore.

Please show for both PCs ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following commands:

nbtstat -n

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

When I do: nbtstat -n
I get: NetBT is not bound to any devices.

After I try the ipconfig /all, I right click and nothing happens, i.e. no option comes up that will allow me to sellect all/copy.

Both computers are showing Workgroup as "MSHOME", yet when I go to Network and Sharing Center on the laptop (Vista) it's showing the network as "default" could this be the problem?

I can see the folder from the laptop (Network Map) but I'm getting the following error:

"\\MIGUEL-1\Allpatients is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resources. Contact the administrator of this server to see if you have access permission.

Not enough server storage is available to process this command."
