Xbox networking
Hello everyone! I have a quick question and would love it if someone could be of assistance. Here is what I wish to do.

I have never had an Xbox or really anything I connect to the Internet except my computer. However, I wish to get one very soon. I wish to be able to play my Xbox ( in the same room as my computer/net connection or not..preferably not ) without connecting my Internet connection to a router and then my router to the Xbox. I honestly simply hate to go through anything else to slow down my Internet, block ports, etc. So, any suggestions as to what I can do? I suppose I just might have to connect through a router but I sure would hate to.

Thanks for your time,

Curt

there are a few things you can do... you can run down to best buy or wherever and pick up a hub, and connect the router and xbox to it so you wont be behind a firewall or anything like that. or you can do what i did, just connect the xbox to the router, and put it into a dmz you wont be behind a firewall but still might need to do some port forwarding. i believe but may be wrong you need open TCP: 3074 and UDP: 88, 3074 hopefully that will help.
