No SSHd option on dd-wrt

I have upgraded my router, a WRT54G v5 to dd-wrt v24 firmware. I want to be able to use SSH to configure additional options. however, I have searched places, and everywhere says go to the services tab and turn on SSHd. There is no SSHd box to check!! I have tried using putty without that option and cannot use SSH. Can somebody tell me why the option is not there?
