Cannot connect to my router
I added a wireless PCI adapter to my PC (a TrendNet TEW-423PI) to try to access the wireless network.

I have two laptops that can access the wireless network just fine, and can resolve IPs from the 3 different routers that I've tried. My PC, can connect to none of them. I am running Windows Vista Ultimate x64. And in the device manager, it lists the PCI adapter as a RealTek 8185 Extensible 802.11b/g Wireless Device.

When I look for wireless networks, it lists all the ones that are available, but whenever I try to connect to any of them, Windows says it connected successfully, but lists it as an "Unidentified Network" and has only local access. But even this is not true, it does not grab and IP from the router.

Here's the kicker, I had the router next to me, not connected to the internet, and my PC could get an IP from it. After I hooked it up to the cable modem, it stopped being able to connect.

Things I have tried...
-Disabling the WPA security, and using no security
-Changing the IP settings to accept a static, then a dynamic address
-Changing all the settings on the routers themselves
-Updating the drivers for the Wireless PCI card
-Enabling, disabling, restarting multiple times.
-Trying many many many times to grab an IP.
-Changing the SSID and making sure that they match both on the router and in Windows
-Changing almost every setting that I can think of
-Changing the DHCP broadcast B flag in the registry
-Calling tech support for TrendNet
-Multitude of other things

If anyone has any out of the box tips or tricks that I can try, or knows the issue, please let me know. I am absolutely baffled, maybe its just a POS PCI adapter, but I have read people getting this to work before.

Thanks!

Disable encryption on the router (and make sure you are not using MAC Address filtering). Try to connect via ethernet and wireless (at the same time is OK) and show ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.
