They're really the same thing. Almost any DSL in the us is Asymmetric, so it's really ADSL. Here's a page I found that basically says the same thing: http://www.broadbandinfo.com/interne...l-vs-sdsl.html

There may be subtle differences, but I don't think they'll amount to anything. DSL in the US is really ADSL in every case I've ever run across. Real DSL would be symmetrical in bandwidth, that's pretty rare. It's interesting to note that my fiber connection is actually symmetrical, I have 15mbit/15mbit service.

hmm over here fibre is called cable lol and ADSL has a max advertised speed of 24mbps highest speed I've seen in 22,684kbps on a Be ADSL2+ line. but 15mbps / 15mbps is brilliant convert that to ADSL and you'd be looking at about 23mbps down and 4mbps up just my estimate :P

The difference is that my connection will do that day or night, there is no slowdown period like typical cable or DSL accounts. I've never seen any speed other than full speed on a test. Also, seeing as how it's fiber all the way to the box in my basement, it's been very reliable. In about 18 months, the only outage I've seen is when a tree took out all the lines, including the fiber. Verizon actually had their fiber repaired before the power company got our power back on.
