Smile IP tracking question
does anyone know if I can be tracked if I visit a myspace profile with a tracker on it if I am at a panera bread? I did an IP lookup and it came up as being in ohio (where panera headquarters is) ... so is this what will show on the tracker? Or will the actual location of the Panera that I am at show up?

The IP address being reported to MySpace and back is the router at the location of panera bread if I remember correctly

so the ip that came up when I did the lookup and gave an address in Ohio wouldnt show up on the tracker? It would be in NJ (where I am) instead?

The IP would be traced to the Panera store where you are. The Feds would show up and review the video surveillance tapes to see who was using a laptop at the exact time the myspace profile was visited.

haha i am not talking about any illegal activity .... just wanted to know how it would show up on a myspace tracker (trakzor) thats all ... I have always thought that the IP that shows up on any tracker would be the one that I would see when I goto any IP tracing site .... and the one that showed up when I was at Panera in NJ was an address in Ohio ....

The IP address may be listed as OH, but the the actual IP address will be linked to the Panera in NJ. My work for example is based in VA Beach, VA, but I am located in Richmond, VA. All of our internet traffic routes to VA Beach before actually going out "to the internet". So when I would do a scan for my IP address on sites like internetfrog.com, it will see the IP address on the router in VAB, not my actual IP address on my computer.

Again, from my understanding.

This will vary, depending on the specific ISP and the network node. Mine has shown me to be 50 miles from my location at times, other times it's pretty close.
