Wireless Router Reccomendations?
Hi- I need to buy a new router, but don't know what to go for. I need it to work on Cable/DSL connections and be on sale in the UK for under £50. It'll mainly be used for PC gaming, Xbox Live, general internet use, and possibly streaming video (in some cases in HD) from my PC to my Xbox 360.

Any suggestions?

Linksys would be the best bet if you can get it. It might not be under 50 though. They are easily reprogrammed to become a repeater or you can overclock it to send a stronger signal... besides, they have some of the strongest signals on the market for non-commercial uses.

If you are planning on doing a lot of gaming and using xbox live, i suggest getting a router with a good QoS. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quality_of_service . Mostly they are marketed as "gaming routers" or "VoIP" routers, but you can find some other cheaper routers that use that technology. or as idiotech mentioned a lof of lynksys routers with broadcomm chips can be flashed with a small linux server so that they are highly configurable (but this requires some knowledge and time, so might be worth the extra 30-40 pounds to not deal with it).

Anybody got any experiences to share with this router? All I can find are mixed reviews, half saying it's great and the other half saying it drops connection every 15 minutes...

I would be worried it doesn't have an antenna, I know you are in the UK, and I don't know the pricing there, but I would check out the Asus WL-520gU . http://www.mwave.com/mwave/skusearch...iteria=ba24252
I don't know if they ship internationally, plus it would probably be shipper to find a local site. but i have heard good things, and its a print server. One of the best stock firmwares out. plus it uses a broadcomm chip so you can put aftermarket firmware on it.
Cheers
