Solved: Router connection not working.
I'm connected to my roommate's Linksys BEFSR41 router by LAN cable, and my computer recognizes the connection. The "Internet" light on the router is lit, so I know it's properly connected, but when I try to access the internet nothing happens. Firefox's loading bar stays completely empty, eventually the page times out and there is no exchange of packets on the connection. I can't seem to figure out the problem.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Does your system have an operational firewall? If so, you might try to connect without your firewall running. If that fixes the problem, you need to work with the firewall to allow the connection. If not, then the page with IPCONFIG /ALL will be needed.

Update: The router has started working for my computer. My roommate said that all he did was unplug and plug it back it. It's awfully strange considering that was the first thing I tried even before I decided to post it here.

I'll mark this one solved. I appreciate your swift replies, and I'm sorry for wasting your time.
