I'm having trouble connecting to the internet through my wireless network on my laptop.
My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite P105-S6147 laptop running Windows Vista.

My wireless Network was working last night and when I woke up today my computer wouldn't even detect my network, even when I was right next to my router. My wireless router is a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband router (WRT54G2 V1). I am able to connect to the internet through my desktop wich is plugged directly into the router. Also I cant connect to the network through my laptop's ethernet adapter.

Consider the possibility that a 3rd party firewall (security suite) got misconfigured.

Try the following repairs.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Vista.

Start, Programs\Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

Also I was wondering if I should get a better wifi card. Is a PCMCIA Wireless network adapter better than the internal one that came with the laptop?

Generally speaking a PCMCIA and an internal wireless adapter will be equivalent.

Still speaking in general there are two aspects that make the internal adapter better. First and most important, the antenna for the PCMCIA card is contained in the approx. 1" by 2" "handle" that sticks out; the antenna for an internal card usually runs up both sides, or all around, the lid. Secondly, when moving the laptop you needn't even think about the internal pieces, but the PCMCIA card should be removed and put in its own little protector.
