Voyager router drops connection
Having problems with dropped connections at a relative's house.....

Setup:
Voyager 2091 router directly into master BT socket via splitter.
No extensions, no test socket - just 2 wires coming into the BT socket into slots 2 and 5
Newnet 8MB ADSL
Connection speed around 6500kbps
attenuation 32.0db
SNR 13db

When the router is switched on, it connects to the internet absolutely fine, and download speeds are pretty good. After 30-40 minutes (sometimes more, sometimes less), the internet connection simply drops - the DSL light goes out and stays out and only a reboot of the router solves the problem.

I don't get the chance to visit very often, and my relative is not very tech savvy so it's difficult to try to get anything tested. Newnet have run some checks on the line and haven't found any problems. I ran a line test from dslreports.com earlier today and it came back as a pass. I and am now wondering whether the problem is the BT line, at the exchange or if it's the router.

Any suggestions as to what the cause of the problem might be or anything to check?
Is it worth paying for a BT engineer to check the line?

appreciate any help!!

Well, that sounds clearly like the router if it happens anytime you switch the router on. If it were line problems, I would expect different symptoms.

thanks for the reply, I think you're probably right... Just out of interest, what symptoms would indicate a line problem?

Line issues would not be time dependent on the router's activity, they're usually either totally random or at certain periods of the day, like peak usage periods.
