Unhappy Cannot connect =[
Me and my girlfriend recently got internet at our apartment and I have no problem connecting whatsoever. She on the other hand cannot connect her computer to the internet, network connections are saying that she is connected, firewalled and still she cannot get on the internet

We called a help person paid them 80 dollars and they ran us through some steps in tcp/ip area I dont really remember what they told us to do but it was fixed and worked for about a week. Came home yesterday and it didnt work again.

Shes running windows xp home edition, also running through a ethernet cable, not through wireless. I will be hovering around these forums till the early morning so any further information that i could give to help anyone solve this problem please ask and i will tell.

Welcome to the TSG forum....Hope we can help you find a solution to your challenge.

To start with, open IE select tools>internet options>Under browsing history, select settings, then view files. Then select Edit>select all> delete selections... This will clear the temp internet files...
When this is done, Go to the Start in task bar>select run, type in cmd when the dos window comes up type in "ipconfig /all" (note space after iipconfig) without the quote marks. Then close the window and see if you can connect then.
Keep us posted..

Go back to the start>run>cmd. This time type in "ipconfig /flushdns" (w/o quotes")
post back results.

No, I was just informed that both the internet connections in the network connections area both say connected however if you click repair... the tcp/ip is not enabled. I dont know if that helps coming to a conclusion or not.

yea unfortunately no luck with that. 1394 connection says....

"windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed: Tcp/IP is not enabled for this connection cannot proceed." =[

Here is something else I have found.
click on Start>Connections>show all. right click on your lan connection, then on properties> put a tick in the TCP/IP box.....then reboot the computer. Also have you tried to reset (turn off for a minute or two then turn back on) the internet modem the ethernet connects to?

Don't let the ol' machine beat you. Did your isp provide you with a cd for setting up the connection or did you do it manually?
Hopefully, maybe one of the other people will be able to solve it. I will keep looking and if I come up with something I will post it back here.
GOOD LUCK

one more thing to try: go to the LAN connection using route above (start>connections right clicking on LAN. then properties. When that comes up highlight tcp/ip and select properties. Be sure obtaining address is checked for automatic and the same for DNS.
