Solved: I think I blocked my laptop from accepting my wireless
I was trying to set up a security WPA thing... (as a note, I understand enough about computers to fix minor problems, but nothing like this) on my laptop.

I was trying to set up a wireless printer from my laptop; trying being the operative word, as that idea was shot when I clicked on something regarding 'sharing files' between my laptop and the main PC.

I think it had a security part on it and I wanted to secure the network anyway because I've had it since the beginning of this year and I've never had any WPA security, even though my uncle recommended I do it, I could never figure it out.

Anyway!

I clicked on something, and I was directed to a website (background was white with blue-background headers; if that makes sense/if its helpful?) and I think my IP address was in the address bar.

Look, this might not make much sense, but I inputted a password, and clicked 'submit', like a prat, and my net suddenly died, and I can't reconnect through my laptop.

Can someone PLEASE tell me how much of a prat I was and what I can do to fix this problem?

Thank you for any help, and all is greatly appreciated.

ADDED NOTE: onthe Windows Network Diagnostics, it's telling me the The Wireless Security settings on my laptop to not match the settings on the network...
It's detecting other networks, but not connecting.
It is very frustrating not being able to understand this.

Thanks.

The website that you were directed to when you clicked on it is most likely the setup interface for you router. It appears that you may have made some changes to your router security settings that may not match what you have set on the laptop.

Your router can be reset to out of box state by pushing in and holding the reset button down on back of router.

Then you can again try from scratch to re-apply security settings to keep your neighbors from using your internet connection.

Thank you so much, I was fretting myself into a frenzy last night because I thought I'd blocked it for good :/

It worked though, so thank you, seriously.

I really appreciate it.
