Ok here the deal.

My home internet comes into a modem/wireless router in the office. I run a LAN to the desktop there. That PC has both a wireless and a LAN card.

The wireless is for my laptop when I roam the house.

I have an XBOX 360 in the next room. Since I think paying $100 for a wireless adaptor for the XBOX is retarded when I want to get on XBOX live I just run a LAN from my laptop to the XBOX and share the connection.

I have a spare linksys wirless router that I used before my internet provider gave me this modem / router and I would like to set it up in the living room and use it to provide internet to the XBOX.

I have been told that I cant do this (something about routers not sending and recieving which makes no sense to me - thats what they do right?).

An additional issue is my ISP uses a MAC address that changes regularly.

What I was thinking (heres where things get scary) is it seems like I could link the linksys wirelessly to the desktop and bridge or share the desktops connection in order to accomplish my intent of getting internet to the XBOX.

Before you ask, no I dont have an internet drop in the living room (old house) and I dont want to run a LAN cable the whole way (I rent so I cant drill and the attic is way to low to being doing wire drops, I am not a fan of low crawling through insulation)

I am looking for a creative way to do this and learn at the same time, also if your solution involves spending more than $100 then I might as well buy the overpriced wireless adapter I am trying to avoid.

SPECS:
modem/router is an ACTIONTEC GT704WG

router is a LINKSYS WRT54G

I dont have the specs on the wireless and LAN cards for the desktop but just go with cheap and at least one year old and youll have the right idea.

If the laptop is connected using the wireless connection, you can bridge the wireless and wired connections and then connect the XBOX to the wired connection. This is the preferred solution over ICS if you are connected wirelessly to your own router.

Select both of the connections in Network Connections by left clicking them while holding the Ctrl key. Right click on the selected network connections and select Bridge.
