My wireless driver actually goes missing because I shut my laptop down or let it hibernate.
You can't believe everything you read on the internet. There definitely are cases where the network connection will not work after a computer is awakened from hibernation/sleep/standby. But the driver does not disappear. For a driver to go missing after it was properly installed would be highly unusual, and have nothing to do with hibernate or shut down.

OTOH, as AKAJohnDoe told you, there have been enough cases of the integrated wireless adapter completely disappearing (and sometimes reappearing in cycles) in some HP laptops that HP has extended the warranty period on some models. You're welcome to get a new laptop, the economy could use the help, but if it were me I'd be discussing this with HP!

I'm still having a problem with the parents telling you not to use a cable. There is no difference in the damage you can do using wireless or a cable.

It sounds like they don't really want you to solve this issue.

Perhaps the modem only has one output and when he cables into it he disconnects the wireless router and also disconnects his parents? Cabling into a free hardware port on the wireless router should get around that, though.

I'm assuming that he's connecting to the router.

Unless some of you would happen to know how to fix my laptop, since I know for a fact that it's a laptop issue, I guess I'm just going to have to get a new one.

See, read, and try to understand posts # 13, 14 and 17.

Without your responses to the questions and issues raised in those posts we can do no more except advise you to check in your BIOS (Setup) to see if the wireless adapter appears there and is enabled.

Or, you can simply choose to throw your hands up and shell out a few hundred for a new machine every time you experience some sort of issue. I don't think that would be my first thought...

"There is no indication of a wireless adapter in that ipconfig /all.

In Device Manager do you have a wireless adapter showing under Network Adapters? If so, what is it and does it show as OK?

Are there any warnings or errors in Device Manager? If so, please specify all of them.

If you do have a wireless adapter OK in Device Manager, does your wireless connection show as OK in Network Connections? Is it enabled?
"

Wireless adapter isn't there at all.

"There have been a significant number of reported failures of the wireless card adapter in the HP dv6000 product line. This could be a hardware problem.

On a less ominous note, do you have that little slider switch on the front (labelled Wireless) slid over so that the blue light is on
?"

Yep.

By the driver disappeared, I mean it does not exist in the Device Manager.
Aaaaaand, yea. My warranty is up. I've checked into that.

"Or, you can simply choose to throw your hands up and shell out a few hundred for a new machine every time you experience some sort of issue. I don't think that would be my first thought..."
Or you can stop with the sarcastic replies. :/

You're the one that suggested you were simply going to buy a new machine, right?

You do realize that HP has extended the warranty on certain models that have had chronic issues, right?

Did you not see me reply to that? I contacted HP. They said sorry and what not already.
So like I said, if any of YOU guys have any way of helping me, be my savior on this note, but if all you're going to do is continue the sarcasm, then yea... I'm done looking for help here.

No, I did not see that previously.

I also haven't seen anything about you checking for the wireless in the BIOS.

Um, because I don't know how to do that.
Some of the stuff you guys are asking, without actually explaining to me how to do it/where to find it/what it is, I'm having a tough time interpreting what you mean.
I'm not a guru of computers and their lingo so please explain to me how to do that etc.

When you turn on the PC or Restart it there is a brief display that tells you what key (for example, F2) to tap to enter BIOS or Setup. You tap that key when you turn the PC on and then look through the various pages to see if there is something on the wireless adapter. If you find it, and for some reason it is disabled, then enabled it and your problem is fixed (probably).

If you don't find the wireless adapter there it has probably come loose or has failed.

If it has failed you could replace it or use an external adapter.

I bought a new wireless adapter and it works.
Surprisingly, when I used it for a while, my laptop's wireless light turned back blue and now THAT works.
>____< I'll just stick to using this USB wireless whenever my laptop acts faulty.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help! I appreciate it!
