Solved: IE keeps shutting down access
I have a small network running Active directory and 8 XP pro machines. Running DHCP. I have one user who suddenly has IE not be able to display web pages. She still has internet connection and I ping server and router all the way out. I was able to connect as admin and thought it was a user object problem so I deleted her user account and recreated it. She was able to connect but after she logged out and back in she kept getting Webpage could not be displayed. This is the same for any user that logs onto that machine. They can log in once and IE works fine but once they log of and back on it no longer works. All user accounts are fine on any other machine. I have turned off all firewalls to make sure it wasn’t a firewall problem.

You say you can ping are you pinging IP addresses or names? this sounds like a DNS issue

Disable all add-in that are loaded to see if that makes a difference.

(TOOLS >> MANAGE ADD ONS)

You can also load IE without add-ins by running the following command from a RUN prompt.

iexplore.exe -extoff
