Can't connect a laptop to the network
I am trying to connect an XP SP2 notebook to a wireless network ran on a Vista PC. I enter the passcode and get this error:

"The network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration. This can be entered as 5 or 13 ascii characters or 10 or 26 hexedicimal characters."

The passcode is correct and works on another Vista laptop. I have a Linksys router.

Any ideas?

sounds like it does not like your password
is it WEP / WPA and does the xp notebook support those types

i would take off the secruity on the router and try and connect - than at least you know everything is working OK
then add the secruity code back on

Thank you. It used to work when I had a Belkin router. The router would give me a hex password when I typed the passcode. I entered the hex and this laptop worked.
