Question lost network passwords
can you tell me IF or how I can find/recover/or change my network password for my wireless network? I can't add anything else to my network until I do this. I don't remember what it is.

unfortunately, intent or not, we can't assist with lost passwords, as we simply can't verify the intent.

thanks for understanding,

v

reopening thread as advised by another moderator. Solution listed below.

The solution is to reset the router back to factory defaults, then they can recreate the security key.

thanks,

Thumbs up thanks
Ah, yes. Well I guess you have a point about the "intent" part. Resetting to factory settings is a valuable tip. I just didn't want to pat $75 an hour to the tech support to tell me that. Thanks!

Some routers display the encryption key. You can login to the router and look for the key. If it doesn't display it, then just set a new one.

Of course, if you also don't know the login password you have to do as valis advised.

Wink not yet
I haven't done it yet. I have had so much frustration with computers, internet, networks, printers, etc. that I don't jump at the chance to "fix" things anymore. My brother had his laptop here yesterday and I was trying to type in the wireless network password so he didn't have to be wired down. I won't absolutely need it until I decide to put my old computer online for my husband in his gun room across the house. Yeah, I'm a procrastinator. Thanks.

Thanks, that made my day! We won't be allowed to have those kinds of rooms in our homes before long. Enjoy them while you can!

Just a thought but can you log into the router and look? From one of the connected pc's just type in 192.168.1.1 into your browser. (im assuming your using default settings here, if not use your default gateway address) If your using something like a linksys the default password is easy to find. Usually something like blank username and password admin. Then you can check under wireless security and write down your passphrase or hex key, whichever you need. If you don't know the password to the router you will have to set the router back to factory defaults with the reset button on the back. Just trying to save you from having to redo all the network keys on the other computers.

okay, you make a very valid point. And you know what, John?

I not only withdraw my comment, but I thank you for putting me on the left.

Did I tell you I drew a smiley face with my 1911 from about 15 feet? And shot a quarter dead center from 88.1 yards with a tricked out .22?

got the photos, too.

shot the taurus judge, really unimpressed. Then I read about it, and it turns out I'm unimpressed for a reason; the cut the rifling in about half so it would not affect the grapeshot of the .410 shell.

wondered why I was all over the place with that thing. Loud as all get out, though.
