Health Risks with Wi-Fi and Laptop EMF
I am working in front of my laptop all day, almost every day and I am a bit concerned about the health risks of being constantly in close contact with the EMF (electro-magnetic fields) emited by the laptop. Of course, the verdict is not in yet whether there are actually health risks, but I figure better safe than sorry. While I am at home I keep the wi-fi turned off and use networking through the electrical outlets. I only turn on the wi-fi while out and about.

I have checked out some EMF detectors and have thought about buying one to get some idea about how much EMF is actually being emitted from the laptop with and without the wi-fi enabled. Also, there are some companies that sell metal sheeting that supposedly blocks EMF. I was thinking about getting some of this and putting it under my laptop, especially when I am working with it directly over my lap.

Does anyone have experience with EMF readers and EMF blocking products?

You'll probably get serious eye strain and carpal tunnel syndrome long before Wi-Fi harms you.

Sorry, but I don't know anything about the EMF products.

there are all kinds of urban myths,
some even with a 'grain-of-truth'
.
you might be more concerned with the number of people,
who slip and die while getting a show in the mornings,
.
saw this posted somewhere,
always made sense to me!!!
.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave,
with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body,
but rather to skid in sideways, Jack Daniels in one hand, arm around a pretty woman,
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out,
and screamin' .....
EEEYOWWWWEEEE, Damn, What a rideeee!!!!!!!

With an old CRT or TV, you're a lot more likely to get excessive exposure. With modern LCD panels, there is really nothing to be concerned about.

AFAIK, the main health concern from using a laptop is heat generation near certain sensitive areas...

Laptops emit both heat and EMF which can be harmful in the area used. I found a cool product to protect against both of these issues at www.harapad.com It's a pad that allows heat to dissipate and reduces the amount of EMF radiation that your body absorbs.
