Question wireless printer server + wireless internet
Hi,

Problem
------------
Laptop can't connect to the wireless switch ( internet ) and the wireless printer server at the same time.
the laptop always connects to the internet on start-up.
When i want to print, i need to disconnect from the internet and connect to the printer server.

Configuration
------------------
HP Pavallion laptop
HP Deskjet F4200 All-in-one printer
HP 2101nw draadloze G printserver
Dlink Switch

Possible Solution
-------------------------
I tried to connect the printer directly to the switch
First wireless: I dont know how to configure that using the printer server
Second wired: The printer only has a usb connection, so ill need a wired printer server of some sort.

will my solution work? beacuse i dont want to spend another 60$ on a wired printer server if it wont work properly.

maybe any other suggestions?

Thx in advance

We need you to describe your complete network. I would assume, since you have a wireless print server that you must also have a wireless access point (part of a router maybe) and I expect a router and a modem. And how are all the devices interconnected?

Hi TerryNet

My Internet Provider Installed some sort of Cable/DSL Modem for internet, phone and digital tv. To this Modem they connected a Dlink switch AP.

completely seperate from that i got my printer connected to my wireless printer server using USB.

the laptop is wireless connected to the print server or the AP.

Hope this helps

Connect the wireless print server (by Wi-Fi) to the AP.

I would start by reading the user manual and/or quick start guide for the wireless print server. If you do not have a paper copy or one on a CD I'm confident it's available on HP's web site.

Frankly, it's normally easier to connect to an existing infrastructure wireless network than to set up an ad-hoc wireless network.

I didn't install the printer server...
But my uncle told me he followed the procedure of the manual.

So i think ill just go to the store and exchange my wireless for a wired printer server
that way i just need to connect that to my AP by cable.

Because i really dont have a clue how to connect the wireless printer server to the AP.

HP support page for the print server. Links to downloads for drivers, user guides, etc. Hopefully you still have the cable for programming. Didn't read guide, but may be as simply as accessing server set up pages and enterring info for AP
