Internet Disconnection
okay so here is my problem, i have 3 machienes running on my network, a xbox 360, and 2 laptops, they all use the internet.

now, after browsing or talking on msn or whatever i'm doing the internet will randomly cut off from my laptop, and mine only, the other two devices will be perfectly fine and un-effected, my laptop will remain connected to the network but not the internet, it will take a few seconds then reconnect to it with a all new local ip address. i have no idea what is causing this but it is a very big neusence, i have not checked if it disconnects at a random time or if the time it disconnects is the same each time. my laptop is a acer aspire 5520g and my wireless reciever is a D-Link DWA-120, my router is a belkin 54g but i do not use the belkin's option, i have my network set up so the belkin is a defult access point and i use my modem's options which is a speedstream 4200.

can anyone please help my disconnection problem?

it would be much appreciated.

Hey matt,

Ok go to ipconfig /all check to see how long your lease optained and lease expires it normally is a day but if this is set to something much smaller this could be your problem. Your router acting as a DHCP server maybe reassigning your machine with a new session this could be the reason so just check this out.

Also what is the distance between your access point and the laptop that is having problems?? The connection might be in and out of the allowed radius!

Check these two things and get back to me

Leon

the lease lasts a few days and this problem only started recently, i might try switching my modem and router off for half an hour, the signal swaps between 2 and 3 bars strength.
