Weird Network Speed Issues
I have Cox Communications High Speed Cable Internet and up until now it has been serving me fairly well. However, for the past couple of days it has been unreasonably slow given how fast I know it can be. It now takes a good 30 seconds to load just about any given web page when it used to take about 2. This has all happening on my wireless network. I have a Linksys Wireless-N Broadband Router WRT300N V1.1 but my laptop is only equiped with wireless G so that is the standard I’m using. I decided to plug my laptop into one of the LAN ports and I have been getting reletively similar results. I just ran a speed test on Speedtest.net and I was shocked at what I saw: Download- 12.91Mb/s (I was shocked at how high that was); Upload- .03Mb/s (how could it be that low?). I’m assuming that the rediculously slow upload speed is the reason for the delayed webpage downloads. I also ran the same test using another computer which is wireless N capable and I got: Download-1.86Mb/s ; Upload- .03Mb/s. I’m also pretty sure wireless N should have a faster transfer speed then that. Could anyone help me?

That's what you call AAAAAADSL

You need to check what you're actually paying for. Your subscription with your ISP is usually based on a certain download speed. If you haven't changed anything in your setup over the last couple of days and are experiencing the same problem over several computers, I would recommend calling your ISP (Internet Service Provider) which in this case is Cox, and letting them know that you are having this problem. They can refresh your IP which might solve the problem.

On the other hand, some ISPs experience technical difficulties from time to time, and they might have some problems in your area. Most ISPs also have a problem log on the site in which they report certain faults in certain areas. Check to see if they have an unresolved problem in your area.

On another note, did you try plugging the Cable directly into your laptop (bypassing the router). It's worth a try to see if there's an improvement.

Ok so basically what youre saying is that the problem most likely lies with my ISP? Do you think that it could have something to do with like, a bandwidth restriction? And yeah plugging my laptop directly into the cable modem was my next guess; however, I'm now layed up with a cast on my leg so I did not really want to go downstairs. :-/ But I suppose I'll have to

Ha ha yes I'm fine, thanks. I just had surgery on my ankle to fix a recurring sprain so I can have a successful wrestling season next year.

Phew!

Try calling your ISP from the bed if you have a handset at hand. As you haven't changed any settings and it was very fast, it's most likely a problem on their end.
