Talking 2.4GHz 24dBi Grid Dish Antenna
I was thinking of purchasing this antenna from http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?inv...00D24A&cat=NET and i was wondering how far can the range of a 24dbi antenna reach. i was planning on putting it on top of the roof with no obstractions on the way.

The range is widely variable based on a host of factors. FWIW, I've connected at about 3/4 of a mile with a pair of 12db Cantenna units and standard Linksys wireless hardware.

For whatever antenna you choose, keep the antenna lead as short as possible for the best performance. Losses in long antenna leads can eat up any advantage of a hi-gain antenna. Ideally, the antenna lead will only be 3-4 feet long to your wireless equipment.

Did it work? It's been over a month, I figured this was dead and buried.

yeah my fault for that. But i got myself a 14dbi yagi which gives me around 1.5 miles of coverage which is not bad.

now i can get free wifi from a huge mall close by..
