Now that you are using ThinkVantage (only) have you deleted any profiles or network definitions or whatever they call them (as John advised)? Do you detect your wireless network? Still can't get an IP address when you try to connect?
Thank you for the reply sir. I really can't detect if he is using WZC or the thinkvantage access connections when connecting via wlan because the thinkvantage access connections does nothing when I click it. It just sits on the system tray. And whenever I try opening it it just wants me to configure a new connection. But I think it does not manage the wlan connection that I want to establish.

I haven't tried resetting the router while all machines are shut off now that I am just using the thinkvantage one. Will post back here when I have done testing. Thank you so much for your replies sir, you have been of great assistance.

Terminate the ThinkVantage connection manager and try WZC.

I don't know how to terminate the ThinkVantage connection manager sir i'm sorry. I asked my pop how does he connect to the network in his workplace and he said that he just switches on the wireless radio switch on the laptop and then the wireless connection explorer window pops up and then he just picks his office network and then connects. I am now thinking that he is using WCZ whenever he connects to the office network so our router must be the one with the issue here.

I also tried disabling WCZ as what sir TerryNet has said and tried using ThinkVantage. But when I did disable it I couldn't even create a connection profile for the laptop to use in our house because it does not even detect the SSID and because it cannot detect the SSID I can't configure the wireless mode and wireless security type for the profile.

Another suggestion I tried is disabling WCZ and then resetting the router with all other machines powered off but I still can't connect to the network, heck with WCZ disabled the laptop can't even detect a wireless network.

Thank you very much for your replies sir appreciate it much.

If ThinkVantage runs as a service you can disable it the same way you did WZC.

If it runs as a task you can use Start - Run -msconfig to prevent it from running at startup.

I tried looking it up at the administrative tools under service but there was no ThinkVantage Access Connections there. I will try looking it up on msconfig tommorrow since my pop is using the laptop. Will post back ASAP. Thank you very much sir!

I just looked up thinkvantage on the msconfig of the laptop and I can't find it. I found a start up item that runs through C:\program files\thinkpad\connectutilies\actray.exe and another one C:\program files\thinkpad\connectutilies\acwlicon.exe I have a feeling they are related to thinkvantage but I'm too scared to disable them because this is my pop's laptop afterall.

Both of those applications are part of the wireless client, stop them both with MSCONFIG and see if that helps. You can always allow them to run again, right?

I've lost track--have you removed wireless profiles yet, at least the one for the home network? If not, you want to do that and/or disable encryption on the router and try to connect that way. If successful you can probably re-enable encryption and reconnect.

I am trying to disable the WPA encryption but I can't seem to find where should I disable it in the configuration page. Is it under security mode sir? The drop down menu from the security mode tab contains: WEP, WPA Personal, WPA Personal2, WPA Enterprise, WPA2 Enterprise, RADIUS and Disable. Is this it sir? We are currently using WPA Personal as stated in the configuration page.

Use disable, that's how to kill encryption totally.

I'm really sorry if I am taking too long to respond to your suggestions sirs, it's because my dad is using the laptop all the time for work and I can't get any alone time with it. I'm really sorry. Thank you for those who are still replying even though I respond very slow.
