Hi..need urgent help

I have a webserver (JBoss) running in a co-hosted server. Since the ports 80 and 8080 are already being used by another web server running on the same server, I configured my server to run on port 8585. The co-hosting service provider has a cisco hardware firewall on which they say that the port 8585 has been unblocked. When we try accessing the application as http://ip.add.res.s:8585/abc, in the local machine and over the machines in the co-hosting service provider's machine, we are able to access the application. But when I try accessing from over the internet, I get "connection timed out" error. The service provider says that since the port used is a non standard port, its being blocked by the ISPs. Can anyone help me find out the real issue???

Yes is may blocked by your ISP but check your router first and make sure the firewall build-in not active or blocked port 8585.

this may seem idiotic but can u pls tell me how to ascertain that it is being blocked by router or ISP...is there a way to find out at wat point the request is being blocked???

Login to your route admin page and check the firewall module active or not. You can pm me your server ip and i will check from my connection

What is the make and model of your router?

Do you see a brand name and model on it? How exactly are you connected to the Internet?

Checked and i can't connect to your server port 8585. I thinks your co-hosting service provider not unblocked yet because my isp not blocking this port. Ask them again ! Remove your ip from this topic for security.

Another possibility is that it is being blocked in his router or modem.

Go to portforward.com and download the port tester. That will allow you to check any ports that are open to see if they can be reached or not. Its very useful and works well!

Hi all..issue solved...the problem was with the ISP of the cohosting solution provider. They were blocking the ports
