Question Solved: Laptop not assigned a network address
I'm trying to connect my sister's Dell laptop to my wireless connection and failing. The signal strength is excellent, but I'm being told by her computer that it has limited or no connectivity. Her laptop is a Latitude D610 with XP Service Pack 2. Running ipconfig on her computer gives me the following information:

Now, there isn't a computer wired to the router, they all run on wireless. Running ipconfig on my laptop gives me the following details:

Hopefully that's not too extraneous. Let me know if you have some suggestions to get the laptop connected.
Thanks!

Disable encryption and MAC Address filtering on the router and try to connect. If not successful please show ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

Did you try connecting the computer directly to the router with a cable to see if that works?

I ended up using an Intel program that came with the laptop to connect to the wireless network and it worked perfectly. I can't explain it, but I'm glad it works.
Thanks!
