wifi connection is missing. help pls...
i was able to go to the internet using wifi but suddenly, the wifi icon on the lower right screen is gone. the wireless connection in network connection in control panel is gone too. there's a wifi switch in my laptop. if its on right, it means wifi is on (blue led). if its on left, wifi is off (orange led). but now, even if it's on right, the led is orange. so whichever side the switch is, the led is orange (means wifi is off).

im using windows xp media center edition.

can someone help me please?

thanx!!

That sounds like the wireless card has decided to take a walk.

First thing to do is check Device Manager and see if the wireless NIC appears at all under Network adapters.

Next, remove the battery and flip the laptop over and open the cover over the wireless card. Make sure the card is firmly seated in it's socket.

thnx for replying.

i checked the device manager and under network adapters, wireless broadcom is not there. i saw something in unknown device though but i can't update that device cause whenever i plug an ethernet cable, it says connected but limited connectivity then suddenly it disconnects and connects it again with limited connectivity then disconnects again (over and over). i'll check later the wireless card later. my problem above is newer than the wireless problem. now even the wired internet is messed up.

what do you mean? the laptop itself? or just the card?

the wired and wireless cards are together? the one that you want me to check?

No, I mean if suddenly the Ethernet is flaking out, you may be experiencing a more global failure, perhaps either system corruption or hardware failure.

i see. i tried reformatting the laptop and when i installed the wireless internet driver, it worked. i haven't checked the socket though. so i don't think that the problem is the loosing of wireless card. (i don't know if im right with my theory though)

is it possible that my wireless device is being blocked or corrupted? because the laptop seems to be having trouble detecting the wireless internet.

and is it also possible that it is being blocked?

If you restored Windows on the laptop and the wireless card is still not working, I'd say it's probably a hardware issue.
