How does it work connected directly to the modem? If that works fine, I'd be shopping for a new router.

The router is connected directly to the phone line. I can connect to the router all the time and the wireless signal never cuts out.

Its just the internet cuts out. Then I restart and it works again. cruel joke

Again, if you connect the computer DIRECTLY to the modem and it works without cutting out, then I'd consider a new router.

What do you mean?

I have no modem. My router is the modem.

If you mean that I should try wired connection to the router then thats what I will do but otherwise you are confused about what I am doing.

I do not have a router + standalone modem setup.

Well, at least try the direct wired connection to the router. Sorry about the modem confusion. This sure sounds like a router issue...
