Router problems
Hi, the router only has the WAN 'button' awitched on while the power 'button' is not. (The WAN is the only one that is lighting). DO you think that the router is 'dead' and cannot be fixed? If not, what can i do to fix it?

Thanks

Perhaps you could share at least the make and model of the router? Have you tried resetting to factory defaults and reconfiguring? What is the make and model of the modem you use as well?

It may be failing, I'd try a few things first.

  1. For wireless connections, change the channel on the router, I like channels 1, 6, and 11 in the US.
  2. For wireless connections, try moving either the wireless router/AP or the wireless computer. Even a couple of feet will sometimes make a big difference.
  3. Update the network drivers (wired and wireless) on your computer to the latest available.
  4. Update the firmware to the latest version available on the manufacturer's site.
  5. Reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure.

Many times these measures will resolve a lot of intermittent issues.

You'd be amazed, or maybe not, by the number of people that come here and are trying to recover their only copy of important data from a hard disk or flash drive and are amazed that electronic components actually do fail.
