All in all, Verizon hasn't been too bad to deal with. The router was made by Westel who will not support it because it was a custom job. So, it falls in Verizon's lap to provide help and anything beyond basic setup is not in their bag of tricks.
The one you need to really avoid is D-Link, the make of the network cameras I have been working with. Their support is the worst I have ever experienced.

I've actually had pretty good luck with D-Link support, of course, I don't often call them with technical questions. If I have a defective piece of equipment, it's been pretty easy to get a replacement.

Network camera
The problem I had was a lack of understanding on their part of what the issue was. Language was a big hurdle. They were very polite but I got no direction at all.
