Can see network, but not internet
Hello! I love this forum and have used other people's solutions to fix many of my problems. None seem to work today, so here's my issue:

My new office PC can see the network and other PCs, but has no internet connection. Programs like Kaspersky et al can also not find their updates and such through the web, but when I ping Google from CMD I get a response. The PC is an Acer running Vista Home 64 SP1. My wireless is through the D-Link DWA 160 and we are on a FIOS network with an Actiontec router. My IPCONFIG is as follows:

Welcome to TSG.
It looks like you have a good wireless connection.
Let's see the results of the following pings"

From a Johnwill post on the Networking Forum

Try these simple tests.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands one at a time, followed by the Enter key:

IPCONFIG /ALL

PING <computer_IP_address> For addresses,follow instructions below….

PING <default_gateway_address>

PING <dns_servers>

PING 206.190.60.37

PING www.yahoo.com
Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

<computer_IP_address> - The IP Address of your computer, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above. IPV4 for Vista

<default_gateway_address> - The IP address of the Default Gateway, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

<dns_servers> - The IP address of the first (or only) address for DNS Servers, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Also, disable any firewalls that you may have running.

Do other computers on the router have the same issue? Did you try the ping tests previously mentioned?

Hey, thanks for the responses. I'm on hold with this for the moment, since someone decided to rebuild the computer over the weekend without talking to me about solutions from the friendly people here. I bet it still doesn't work, because that PC is a piece of junk with nothing but problems. I

Bummer:If by rebuild,,you mean reformat and re-install the OS,this will probably entail downloading a lot of drivers to make things like networking ,functional.
But,we can deal with that if necessary.
