unable to access some sites
hi new member Mike. using xp pro with 1.5 gig of ram ddr1. cannot access MSN messenger or anything java based. flash player is installed and operating and java up to date. Very frustrated. Oldie by the way 66. Would appreciate your help. Mike.

That looks fine, I'd have to say this sounds like some sort of firewall issue.

Did you try an alternative browser like Firefox to see if it's something with IE?

Try booting in Safe Mode with Networking and see if that changes the symptoms.

thanks john. ill try a local tech to help me. my bad. im just frustrated and confused. mt java tells me Caused by: java.io.IOException: open HTTP connection failed.
