networking external HD to my xbox 360
I have been connecting to my computers HD to my xbox wirelessly for a long time, but I recently purchased a Belkin router (N+ wireless router) that has a usb on it ( I have a 1tb hard drive attached to it) so you can access it from any computer on your network wirelessly or not. The problem that I am facing is that my xbox is not able to recognize the HD on the network. I have been trying to figure this one out for days, and I dont know what to do, If anyone can help me I would appreciate it. I have called tech support to Belkin, Xbox, and Western Digital which all said that it should be seen on the network but were unwilling to assist, all of them blamed the other as being the one that had the problem.

Thank you,

Ryan

Well, the networking used in the Belkin router is not the same functionality as Windows networking, I suspect the XBOX simply doesn't recognize the Linux SAMBA connection that the Belkin router uses to connect to the disk.

Thank you, so in other words I should return the Belkin for what I am trying to do correct???? If so, what is the best router that you know of that all the computers on the network can use a HD that is attached via the router, that can also be accessed by my xbox? Please advise, and thank you for your help

I don't know what router mass storage capability is compatible with the XBOX, never had an XBOX so I have never run across the issue.

You were correct, I had to return my usb attached hard drive and purchase a ethernet attached hard drive. Thank you again for your help

I think that was the right choice.
