Wireless working until i restart computer.
Hi, my wireless connection recently stopped working, I reintroduced the network details and voilá, wireless! i then turned restarted the computer (just to check) and had the same problem, after repeating this process a few times (with increasing levels of frustration) i reassinged the control of the wireless networks to windows (it was on dell wireless manager) and that seemed to fix it... restarted the computer and not only no wireless but control has switched back to dell! Any suggestions on what the problem could be and possible solutions?
Thanks.

I would take the Dell wireless manager out of the Start list or disable it in the services start list.
You did not mention the OS,so can't give you specific instructions.
Then make sure that windows manager is set to start automatically.

Ok:Control panel/admin tools/services
Wireless zero config should be set to automatic and running.
Look for a dell wireless manager entry and change it's status to disabled.

The other possibility is the start up list.
Start/run type in msconfig and select startup.
Uncheck the dell utility if you find it there.

And the Dell utility is not?
If so,let's reverse the activation.
Change WZC to disabled and activate dell and reboot.
Then I'd like to see :
From a Johnwill post on the Networking Forum

Try these simple tests.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following commands one at a time, followed by the Enter key:

IPCONFIG /ALL

PING <computer_IP_address> For addresses,follow instructions below….

PING <default_gateway_address>

PING <dns_servers>

PING 206.190.60.37

PING www.yahoo.com
Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

<computer_IP_address> - The IP Address of your computer, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above. IPV4 for Vista

<default_gateway_address> - The IP address of the Default Gateway, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

<dns_servers> - The IP address of the first (or only) address for DNS Servers, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.
______

This will give us a network view of what your pc is seeing.Might require some settings changed,or further diagnosis, but let' see
Also, from your first post, you indicated that when you changed to WZC you had wireless. Were you able to access the net successfully?
And then a re boot and no net.
Am I reading it correctly ?
