Wireless Networking Trouble (low signal)
Hey,

I set up a wireless network for a friend who happens to live in a MASSIVE HOUSE. Im talking 10,000 sq ft plus. This is a problem because we had to use range expanders in order to get the signal in the whole house. I got it all setup and it was working, but two weeks later I get a call back saying that the range expanders died. Apparently, after a blackout they reset completely, even on surge protectors. So, I went back, reconfigured them and they were once again connected.

Then there was another power outage and the same thing happens. Not to mention, these expanders suck.

The expanders are linksys expanders ver 3 (they only have one model)

I am looking for either new expanders that are easy to setup and work well, (the network needs to be protected WPA btw)

OR

An alternative to expanders (hard-wired) not an option.

So they completely reset to factory defaults after a power loss? That doesn't sound like Linksys or any other piece of computer hardware for that matter. The obviously aren't working correctly and need to be replaced. I've been using computers for the better part of 20 years and I've never had a piece of equipment rest to defualts after a power loss.

A surge protector isn't going to do anything in a blackout or brownout. You need a UPS to protect equipment from power loss.
