2 Wireless N routers, 2 different problems...
I have a couple of problems with routers...

I had a Netgear WPN824 which started losing it's time settings. This was a major problem as I use the "Access Control" feature to restrict what times my kids can go online till. It was resetting itself, regularly to Jan 01 2003 so I decided to buy a "new" one. I bought a Belkin N1 from Ebay which was fine BUT Access Control, although offered doesn't seem to work. The settings are in and enabled but all the requested PCs have access 24/7, so I decided to buy another and bought a D-Link DIR-635 - problem solved, access control works and the PCs are blocked when they should be.

All's well, yeah... No! When using Newsleecher on the Belkin I was getting d/l speeds of 2.30Mb/s on the D-Link I'm getting an average of 1.68Mb/s which is about 36% difference (I consider that a lot!). Can anyone with experience of the N1 (not Vision) or the D-Link help me get the Belkin to block access as it should or show me some setting to bring the D-Link up to the Belkins d/l speed please???

I'd upgrade the D-Link to the latest firmware and then reset to factory defaults and reconfigure. I have a lesser version, the DIR-615, and it has no problem downloading at 2.3 to-2.4 mbytes/sec from fast sites, so I can't imagine the DIR-635 would either. OTOH, I see that the DIR-635 is an EOL (End Of Life) product, so it's not something that I'd be buying currently.

It's already on the latest (1.09 - 26/6/07!!!) and that only addresses Wireless performance/certification...

No, because when I first discovered the speed difference I swapped back to the Belkin.and would have stuck with that but the thought of my daughter in her room on the 'net till the dead of night had me swapping back and I had to put everything back then...
