trouble again with D-Link WBR-2310 router
I had difficulty before, posted and solved in this thread HERE. After that fix, all my wireless computers and devices found my network automatically when powered on. At some point, my daughter contracted a malware virus on her Dell, which eventually led to me having the hard drive removed and replaced, so I had to reinstall everything on her PC, including the wireless adapter. In so doing, I restarted the router a few times, and now the router has reverted back to its old behavior of not allowing my wireless computers and devices to connect to my wireless network automatically upon power-up. I called D-Link's support line, and tried to get them to tell me the settings that would allow for that automatic connecting, and I was told that I must just check the "Enable Auto Channel Scan" box. Well, I did that and it hasn't changed my situation: every time I try to use a wireless computer or device while my "main" PC is powered off, my wireless network can't be found, and I must restart the router. What I actually do is go to the router page, look at the wireless settings, and click "Save Settings". Sometimes the "Enable Auto Channel Scan" box is checked as I had it before, sometimes not; I've tried re-checking it, and I've tried leaving it unchecked, but either way I'll have the problem again tomorrow.
I think it's obvious that I'm no computer whiz...does this screenshot of my router settings give any clue to the solution to my problem? (which, simply stated, is that I want the wireless computers and devices to find my wireless network automatically)

I can't read that screenshot, but from your description it sounds like the router is not operating properly.

Make sure you have the latest firmware update for it. Then reset it to factory default settings and reconfigure it.

Some people have trouble with the auto-channel feature, so it is not a bad idea to turn that off as D-Link suggested. If you don't know what channels other possibly interfering networks are using try channels 1, 6 and 11.

If, after a reset to factory defaults, the router continues to "forget" settings you have made and applied/saved, it's time for a router replacement.
