Problem with Local Area Network
I have been having problem connecting to my wireless modem through LAN cable out of a sudden 4 weeks ago.

Whenever I try to connect now, it will say "acquiring network address" and it will subsequently fail or says "limited or no connectivity". I've tried repairing the connection but it doesn't seem to work.

To check whether it is the problem with my modem, I have tested using my wireless connection and it seems to work fine. I've also ping 127.0.0.1 and got the response immediately.

Laptop - Dell Inspiron 640M
Modem - Dynalink RTA1025W
Network Card - Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller

Thank you in advance for advice.

The symptoms are you have either a driver issue, bad cable, bad port on the router, or a bad NIC.

I'd start by reloading the NIC drivers, if that doesn't do it, use a new cable and a new port on the router. If all else fails, you'll need a new NIC. Since that would be part of the motherboard, let's hope it's not the NIC.

Hello..
I think there will be a network problem but you said that whenever you are doing ping command you are receiving response so I am confused about it.May be there will be bad NIC.
