Post two computers at home. wireless+wired
Hello everyone!
I'm having a problem with my internet connection. I moved into a new apartment and now have Comcast high-speed internet. I have two computers: a laptop (vista, a wireless connection to the internet) and a desktop (xp, a wired connection). The speed seems OK whenever my family uses both computers at the same time (surfing the net or checking e-mail). But when someone turns on online TV on the laptop, the internet connection slows down dramatically on the desktop computer(the speed on the laptop doesn't really slow down). Sometimes I need to wait 30 seconds before a page opens. Sometimes I can't even open a webpage; the web browser (mozilla ff 3.5) says "Oops! This link appears to be broken." and "DNS error - cannot find server". I really don't know what's wrong with it.

My modem is:
Motorola Surfboard SB5101 Cable Modem
My wireless router is:
Belkin N Wireless Router

Please, halp me with my problem. Thank you.

Streaming Video to a computer consumes a lot of bandwidth. What is your connection speed?

in my contract it says that my internet connection can be up to 10 Mbps. when I checked it on http://www.speedtest.net/ with TV turned on it was 12 Mbps, without having TV turned on it was 17 Mbps.

You need to configure QoS in the router I would guess, it sounds like the streaming video is getting priority.

well, I tried to play around with the router settings, both computer and router firewalls, but I'm still having the same problem. Sometimes it kinda works... slowly, have to wait 5-7 seconds before a page loads. However sometimes I'm getting "could not load the page". I need your help guys
